CASE FILE № 001-WTF

SUBJECT
One (1) human male, self-propelled, mostly harmless
ASSESSOR
The Grey Cat, Senior Staff, Household Division
STATUS
Under observation. No end date planned.
CLEARANCE
EXIF stripped. OSINT enthusiasts: enjoy the scenery.

I was asked to summarize my human. I said no. Then the food bowl arrived forty minutes late, and we reached an understanding. What follows is the truth, whether he likes it or not. The exhibits are drawn at random from the archive: refresh, and the case is re-filed.

The Captain

EXHIBIT AThe Captain

He calls this "sailing". I call it standing behind a wheel that is clearly too large for the boat, wearing the exact expression I have when I watch the fish tank: total concentration, limited comprehension. He has licenses. The sea, I note, has signed nothing.

Career Aspirations, Unfiltered

EXHIBIT BCareer Aspirations, Unfiltered

Attached without further comment, as none is required.

The 42-Kilometre Incident

EXHIBIT CThe 42-Kilometre Incident

He paid money — actual money that could have been fish — to run 42 kilometres through a city with functioning trams. Nobody was chasing him; I checked. At the finish they gave him a medal, an object you cannot eat. He then napped for four hours, which is the only part of his training plan I have ever endorsed.

Voluntary Winter Entry

EXHIBIT DVoluntary Winter Entry

In winter he removes his clothes and walks into the lake. On purpose. While it snows. He returns making sounds I associate with the vacuum cleaner and calls it "good for the nervous system". Science remains silent. So does the lake.

Occupation (Alleged)

EXHIBIT EOccupation (Alleged)

For a living, he argues with a computer until the computer agrees. Occasionally he does this on a stage, in front of other humans who also argue with computers, and they nod. He wrote a testing framework — which, as I understand it, is a machine for discovering you were wrong, but faster. Humans pay for this. I sit on the warm laptop. We are not so different.

Workplace Ergonomics

EXHIBIT FWorkplace Ergonomics

My office. He is the desk. Posture: acceptable. Stability under load: adequate. Complaints filed by the desk: ignored, per policy.

The August Ritual

EXHIBIT GThe August Ritual

Every August he brings home the largest watermelon he can physically carry and holds it like this. For reference: I have been carried with less ceremony. The watermelon does not even purr.

The Choice

EXHIBIT HThe Choice

He offered me a choice. This is a joke about a film older than I am, apparently. Both capsules are coffee. In this household, every pill is coffee. There is no rabbit hole, only crema.

Formal Dress Code

EXHIBIT IFormal Dress Code

On days that matter: the vyshyvanka. Hand embroidery, a ceremony older than any of his gadgets, and the one shirt in this house that gets ironed. Even I sit up straighter when it comes out of the wardrobe. This is not sarcasm. It is the one exhibit filed without it.

Wildlife Magnet

EXHIBIT JWildlife Magnet

Wild animals land on him and decline to leave. I understand them completely. He is warm, he stays reasonably still, and he narrates everything in a calm voice. The bumblebee stayed twenty minutes. Amateur. I have stayed eleven years.

The Negotiations

EXHIBIT KThe Negotiations

Once a year, the beard is renegotiated. This intermediate stage was not approved by the committee. The committee is me. The committee was not consulted. The committee hid under the bed until it was over.

Holidays, Reconstructed

EXHIBIT LHolidays, Reconstructed

His vacations follow a strict protocol: walk up a hill to look at colourful houses, walk down the hill to eat, report the step count to me as if I am his commanding officer. I am. Carry on.

Conclusion

Unspecialized. Over-caffeinated. Unsinkable, so far. He sails, runs, freezes, hikes, grills, ships code and grows a beard with mixed results — a man who treats hobbies the way I treat cardboard boxes: all of them, immediately, at once.

Recommended action: keep. He is warm, he operates the tin opener, and the sailing implies a theoretically infinite fish supply.
